Looking for PyxRanch, the ranch software? Its privacy policy and terms are at pyxranch.com/legal.
1. When you send a message
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, a subject and your message. With them it keeps the time you sent it, your internet address and the name of your browser, which is what tells a person from a script sending the same message a hundred times.
- It is written down on this server first, so a mail outage never loses it, and then emailed to me. The email travels through Google’s mail service, which is where the inbox is.
- It is used to answer you, and for nothing else. Nobody is added to a mailing list, and nothing is sold or shared.
- Ask, and it is deleted. Say so in a reply or a new message.
2. The private galleries
Some galleries here are private, for a wedding or a client, and open only with a code the couple or the client hands out. They are not listed on this site.
- The code is checked on the server. A right one is swapped for a small signed cookie for that gallery alone, so you are not asked again for 120 days. It holds which gallery and what the code allows, and nothing about you. It is not readable by scripts on the page and is never used to track you anywhere else.
- Photographs shown here carry no hidden details. The copies you see and download have had their location, camera serial number and owner name removed. The untouched originals are kept apart, and only the couple or the client, with their own code, can download them.
- Sending photographs to a gallery. A guest adds their name first, and that browser keeps it until it is closed, so they are asked once. The photographs go to the couple, who see whose they are, and appear in the gallery only once the couple says so.
- If you are in a photograph and would rather not be, ask, and it comes down.
3. Everything else
- No tracking. This site has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies and no third-party scripts. Its fonts are served from here.
- Server logs. Like every web server, this one notes the address that asked for each page. Those logs are for keeping the site running and safe, and are not used to work out who anybody is.
- Where it lives. On a server run by Pyxel AI in British Columbia, Canada.
4. Your rights
Under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act you can ask to see what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask how it has been used. Ask through the contact form. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
When this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
